NextCloud Introduction

Table of Contents

NextCloud is most commonly used as an alternative to something like Dropbox. However, it is fairly easily extended to support a variety of use cases, and ours most is most definitely different. The primary goal of our release it NextCloud was to provide a stable offering of CalDAV and CardDAV, which used your email accounts as authentication. NextCloud happens to provide one of the best solutions for this. Of course, additional features are there and usable.

Please note that our offering of NextCloud is “best effort” and not a guarantee that all of it’s functions will work flawlessly or that it will perfectly integrate with our other services. We do not advise that you purchase our service with NextCloud being a primary justification for the purchase. We are not confident in it’s behavior over IMAP login (ex. our email servers allow passwords that are longer than NextCloud will pass on to the IMAP proxy for authentication), we do not find that it’s calendar offerings work well under the kind of shared / private environment we’ve created (as opposed to private teams using an instance and seeing each other as neighbors clearly). We’re just not confident overall that this is the final solution to any problem it was added to solve.
